FACILITIES
The 26-hectare complex located at Assumption Heights Buru-un Iligan City - nine kilometers from the city proper and a kilometer from the jetty houses the two Chlor-Alkali plants of Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation
The Plant employs Diaphragm Cells Technology of Diamond - Shamrock (US) and Ion Exchange Membrane Technology of Chlorine Engineers Corporation (Japan) for the brine electrolysis. A triple-effect Evaporation Plant from Escher Wyss (France) and a double-effect Evaporator Plant from Kimura Chemical Plants (Japan) are used to produce DCP and IEM grade liquid caustic soda respectively. Hydrochloric acid is produced using the technologies from Shin-Etsu Ltd (Japan) and SGL ACOTEC GmbH (Germany) while liquid chlorine is produced using the technology from Tsurumi Soda (Japan). The Plant also has the capability to produce sodium hypochlorite using a locally designed packed tower system.
The Iligan Plant employs highly proficient engineers, technicians and operators from different fields of discipline for its manufacturing and maintenance concerns.
Being an active member of the Chemical Industries Association of the Philippines
(Samahan sa Pilipinas ng mga Industriyang Kimikal or SPIK), the company is one
of the first signatories of the Responsible Care program. The Responsible Care
program is the chemical industry's voluntary initiative to continuously improve
the health, safety and environmental performance, and to communicate with stakeholders
about the industry's products and processes.
The company has a certified Quality Management System accredited by Societe Generale de Surveillance Philippines (SGS). The ISO 9001:2000 certificate was awarded last March 23, 2005 and is valid until March 22, 2008. The company shifted to the ISO9001:2000 version from the ISO 1994 version last November 29, 2002.
The company has a certified Environment Management System accredited by TÜV SÜD Philippines. The ISO 14001:2004 certificate was awarded last May 2, 2007 and is valid until April 2, 2010.
The company is now working towards the certification of its Health and Safety Management System as required by OHSAS 18001 standards.
LOGISTICS
MVC engage the services of a logistics company to provide comprehensive management over the transport and delivery of a major product of MVC. This was after running a series of simultaneous and a trial run to evaluate the business process and fine-tune operations.
The new arrangement reduced the volume of work considerably, thus rationalizing the Company's North harbor operations.
Other functions which provided control over the activities of the service provider were transferred to the MPBP Plant thus centralizing logistics and other distribution activities for this particular product.
VESSEL OPERATIONS
MVC maintains a logistics model that is most appropriate and cost efficient given
the length and breadth of its operation. This mode, which owned and chartered
vessels (Snoopy 1 and Snoopy 2) in moving products, will be modified as the need
arises and tailored to fit the logistics requirements and the demands of the
market.
