IEM 2 Project

As part of its thrust to improve competitiveness, Mabuhay Vinyl has replaced its Diaphram Cell Plant built in 1979 with a state-of-the-art Ion Exchange Membrane (IEM) Plant for producing liquid caustic soda, hydrochloric acid and liquid chlorine.
The project was registered with the Board of Investments with an annual capacity of 24,000 DMTPY of caustic soda, 50,000 LMTPY of hydrochloric acid and 5,500 MTPY of liquid chlorine under the Retention, Expansion, and Diversification (RED) Program on a Pioneer Status. With such status, the project is entitled to duty free importation of capital equipment and six years income tax holiday.

The plant uses the latest n-BiTAC electrolyzers from Chlorine Engineers Corporation of Japan. Aside from this, totally new sections was installed such as the secondary brine filtration, secondary brine purification and brine dechlorination units. The HCl Synthesis Unit and the Caustic Evaporation Plant was likewise replaced with a fully automated system using the latest instrumentation and process control.

The Plant went on stream in August 2008.

Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation affirms its commitment to upholding the principles of the UN Global Compact Inititatives. As one of the active signatories, MVC continues to signify its adherence to the UN GCI principles.

MVC’s 2008 UN Global Compact Report summarizes management’s support and employees’ volunteerism activities which reflect our over-all efforts to integrate the principles into our operations, in the way we deal with our business partners, and in nurturing communities.
