Steve SC. Pangilinan (SSCP), Vice-President for Manufacturing Operations put emphasis on the directives of Corporate Council on Quality, Safety, Security, Health and Environment (COQQSHE) for 2017 during the strategic planning.
“Committees should think of programs that will improve our current environment and safety programs. Do not just maintain programs, we have to improve it. Be innovative. Look for something that is sustainable or workable,” Mr. Pangilinan remarked.
This year’s strategic planning was held on January 17 at Iligan Plant’s Training Room, spearheaded by Environment, Health, and Safety Section (EHS) of the Technical Development and Services Department. Participants of the said event were the different committee chairpersons of the Iligan Plant, Mr. Baicon B. Fronda, and Mr. Jose Arnel Bayobo, Safety Officers of MVC Davao Depot and BBTI, respectively.
The planning started with the presentation of the 2016 EHS Performance by Mr. Edilberto L. Bayor, EHS Specialist. He emphasized the achievement of last year’s 500 days No Lost Time Accident (NLTA) target. Furthermore, Mr. Bayor further announced that 2017 NLTA target will be 700,000 safe man-hours or 750 days NLTA.
Afterwards, the different committees were then tasked to establish their respective objectives, targets, and programs (OTPs) and Risk Control Action Plans (RCAPs), taking into account SSCP’s directives. Outputs of each committee were then presented for other groups to comment.
As Mr. Pangilinan said, “this year’s targets are challenging but with the cooperation and teamwork of all employees and stakeholders of the company, these will be achievable.”
The strategic planning is an annual event where all the committees of the council gather to report attainment status of previous year’s OTPs, as well as to establish OTPs for the current year.
