Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation (MVC) underwent a three-day Port Facility Security Training last April 26-28 in support of the company’s commitment to port facility security. The training included nine MVC port facility security personnel, twelve MVC regular employees (who have direct involvement in port operation) and several contractors.
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) course model 3.24 (for security personnel) and 3.25 (for non-security personnel) were conducted by Asia Security Education and Consultancy, Inc. (ASEC), an accredited Office for Transportation Security (OTS) training institution. The activity was also attended by personnel from GN Power Kauswagan Ltd. Co. and Pilmico Foods Corporation.
The said training is a regulatory requirement by the OTS to all port facilities operating in the Philippines. “As a port facility that caters to international vessels, MVC jetty/pier has just secured a basic requirement of the government to become a port facility compliant not just to local standards but also to international standards; thus, making the MVC jetty an International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) compliant facility”, stated by Retired Major Celso Rufu, the course instructor.
