Apart from the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DOLE) requirement on the annual conduct of first aid training, Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation (MVC) aims to get employees ready for any emergency, may it be fire or natural hazards. “One way to ensure this is through the annual conduct of trainings and drills so that preparedness and response will be strengthened,” Mr. Edilberto L. Bayor, Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist, said.
Last March 19-22, two series of the two-day first aid training and simulation were conducted for MVC’s First Aid, Incident Brigade and Rescue Teams. This event was facilitated by the Iligan City Disaster Risks Reduction and Management Office (ICDRRMO) personnel at the MVC Training Room. First aiders from contractors were also invited to participate in the training.
Discussions focused on the first aiders’ roles & responsibilities, emergency action principles, common health emergencies, and enhancement of bandaging skills, carrying techniques & cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). A simulation of the emergency situation was then conducted to apply the skills and to evaluate the learning of the first aiders.
