Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation (MVC) conducted a Refresher Skills Training for the production and technical staff including the HCl Synthesis Operator, Evaporator Operator, Liquid Chlorine Plant Operator and Sodium Hypochlorite Operator from July to September of 2017.
MVC’s Refresher Skills Training Program is a learning activity that aims to provide a continuous review on the production process and to raise awareness on their operation practices and procedure. It also serves as a great reminder on the necessity of following protocols to avoid operation mishaps and accidents. In order to produce the best quality of work in the fastest time possible, efficiency and effectiveness have been the key points highlighted in the module.
During the initial part of the training, MVC’s existing processes including the problems encountered and the subsequent solutions were discussed. This review on the process would determine whether the operation standards were applied and followed, and if there were any changes that must be implemented to improve the system.
Safe chemical handling as well as emergency preparedness practices was also discussed in order to address risks related to operating a chemical plant. To test the effectiveness of the personnel’s emergency preparedness, a Spill Drill was carried out.
Understanding the importance of the protocols is expected from the employees, especially those in the operation. The development and practice of self-discipline is necessary for the strict observance of the policies. It should be noted by every employee and personnel that policies are not merely created for compliance but also to promote an effective and efficient operation while protecting the safety of its employees.
