According to Akita, an environmentalist, the state of our surroundings tells the condition of our soul. It is with this line of thinking that Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation (MVC) encourages its volunteerism programs which condition the soul of its employees. Such programs include tree planting events and clean-up drives, among others, to confirm MVC’s commitment in preserving the environment.
Lakbay Linis, MVC’s clean-up drive program promotes the spirit of volunteerism by encouraging all employees, regular and third-party contractor employees alike, to gather and collect litters in the plant. Spearheaded by the Good Housekeeping Committee of the Corporate Council on Quality, Safety, Security, Health and Environment (CCOQSSHE), September 2 was marked as the Lakbay-Linis Day for volunteers to step towards a waste-free working environment.
The volunteer group focused on covered roads and canals of the Salt Storage Area, Ion-Exchange Membrane Plant 1 (IEM 1), Motor Pool, Warehouse 1, Administration Building, Main-Gate Guardhouse, Basketball Court, Parking Area, Canteen and Secondary Gate.
Indeed, the Lakbay Linis Program is an MVC culture-building program for its employees, aimed not only to support volunteerism, but to develop awareness in maintaining a hazard-free environment, as well as to express concern for our environment’s future.
